Sargent Master Copy

This is a digitally painted copy of one of John Singer Sargent's paintings. I did it to learn how to digitally paint and I learned a lot. The difference between my copy and Sargent's original is I have a missing pillar in my banister, you could say I did it on purpose or I just messed it up! lol

High Roost Hot Rods

Another post and another Hot Rod logo. This time for High Roost Hot Rods. I really don't mind designing these Hot Rod logos/toons. It's not often you get to draw these sorts of things for logos.

Mower's Hotrods

It's been too long in the making but I finally finished a logo/cartoon for a Hotrod Builder. This puppy is going on the side of his '32 Ford just behind the front wheel, both sides. I also made a mirror so they both face front.

Gria

I am so easily distracted dammit! I started drawing a friend's dog Gria and then I thought I'd have a look at Joe Weatherly's stuff (http://www.joeweatherly.net/index.html) for some inspiration and the downward spiral began. Half an hour later I got back to the drawing, and I only spent a few minutes actually drawing!

Es, if you see this post before I see you, this isn't the finished product, this is just a doodle to get me in the groove. I haven't decided on a medium for the real deal.

Concept T- Again!

This drawing was really bugging me so I put the final touches on it and signed it! It is NOW finished!

It's amazing how much of a difference a little suspension makes to finish a drawing. I REALLY need a new scanner cause I can't seem to take a good photo for sh!t. lol

I fixed my scanner! Not that the image is any better! Hahaha... It looks much neater in real life! Honest ;)

Sketchy

A couple of 15min sketches.

Concept T- Finished Sketch

I finished the Concept-T sketch. Wish I had some ellipse guides although I drew the whole thing free hand so I suppose it's fitting. It's a bit rough in places but you get the idea, it's kinda more hotrod/old school racer. It sucks when you finish a drawing and it isn't quite what you thought it would be but such is life. It's something at least.

My scanner is still out of action so I'm taking crappy photos instead! lol

Gouache; It's a love hate thing!

I thought I'd try my hand at painting so I bought some gouache and a few cheap brushes and took a photo of my dad. After a few attempts (four actually) this is the result. I know it's not brilliant but I've never used gouache before and I'm still not even sure if I'm spelling it right!

I'll most definitely keep painting with gouache; as they say practice makes perfect, and maybe next time I'll try it with colour! lol

Not so new Concept-T

Last March I posted a profile of a car concept based on an old school racer, well I finally started drawing it for real nearly a year later! Doesn't time fly! Anyway here are some WIP snaps (my scanner is currently out of order and I can't figure out why).

You may notice I do not have ellipse guides, I'm not making excuses but it's hard work without them!

More to come soon... ish!

Mrs Muddle

So I came up with an idea to transform my sister into a character resembling something from a Peter Rabbit book. The hardest part was choosing an animal; I chose a Beaver in the end and called the character Mrs Muddle (because she likes to muddle secret ingredients into her recipes). So to start I did some studies of Beavers on brown paper with coloured pencil to get a feel for what they look like.

North American Beaver

European Beaver

Human like Beaver and Rodent like Beaver Study

Beaver doing the dishes?

The final sketch before adding watercolour.

The final product done in watercolour.

Mrs Muddle framed and ready to go.

I'm pretty happy with the result; she looks like a Beaver with a drinking problem baking a cake. lol
